Dr. Y. Krishna Reddy, the Director of B. V. Raju Institute of Technology, Vishnupur, Narsapur, Medak District as earlier worked as professor of Mechanical Engineering CBIT, Hyderabad. He did his graduation from JNTUA, Anantapur(1976-81) and post-graduation from IIT Kharagpur (1981-83). He pursed his doctoral and research work at IIT Kharapur on fill time basis for 3 years on lien from CBIT. He had worked for two years in US on software projects. He has a passion for teaching. He is a life long learner. Learnt and taught many programming languages and CAD packages for Mechanical Engineering students. He was instrumental in computerization of academic & exam cell and controller of exams activities of CBIT.

Some highlights of his career are:

  1. Over 33 years of teaching, research and administrative experience and the entire service in CBIT, Hyderabad.
  2. Worked as Principal of one Engineering College in Prakasam District, AP affiliated to JNTUK, Kakinada for two years from Jan 2013 to Jan 2015 on lien from CBIT.
  3. Ratified as Principal by JNTUK, Kakinada in Mar 2014.
  4. Pursued research work at IIT Kharagpur for 3 years on a full-time basis as an Institute scholar on study leave from CBIT (1989-92).
  5. M.Tech (Mech. Handling) from IIT Kharagpur (1981 – 83).
  6. Published papers in international journals (published from Germany), and in Indian Journal of Institution of Engineers (India).
  7. Presented/submitted papers at International conferences jointly held by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Japanese Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) held in the USA.
  8. Worked as SAP Technical Consultant.
  9. Worked in the Software industry in the USA on H1B visa for about two years (2000-2001).
  10. Responsible for the development and implementation of software package for Academic section and Office of the Controller of Examinations (COE) of CBIT.

Internships:

 One - month Summer Internships:

 GMRIT introduced one – month Summer Internships (SI) for IV semester completed students (known as SI) for the batches passed out in 2016 onwards (during the December of 2014, summer of 2015 and summer of 2016).

          1. For the first time in GMRIT, one – month internships for III Semester completed students was introduced during December 2014. I headed the Internships team to complete the Internships of one – month duration for 800 students (This batch of students is passing out in May 2017)
          2. The Summer Internships were continued for the succeeding batches in the summer of 2015 & 2016.

Full - Semester Internships (FSI):

GMRIT introduced the concept of Full Semester Internships during either 7th or 8th Semesters from May 2016 for the batch passing out in 2017. About 90 students went for 7th Sem. FSI and 180 students went for 8th semester FSI. 35 of the 8th Semester FSI was stipend - paid internships (and also Pre Placements offers) with a monthly stipend of Rs. 20 K.

Co-curricular activities achievements:

          1. The tenth edition of TATA Crucible Campus Quiz, March 2014: GMRIT is runner up. Was able to motivate a couple of 2014 passed – out batch students to take active participation resulting in the runners – up prize with a cash award of Rs. 50 K.
          2. The Hindu Eplus club competition: GMRIT is one of the three teams qualified for finals from Vizag region in Andhra Pradesh in 2014. I actively encouraged & coordinate with the students to take part in this competition.
          3. UNISYS Cloud 20:20 V5 coding Competition: GMRIT had the largest number of teams clearing the Phase 1 of the competition in early 2014 with my active encouragement.

 instrumental in establishing the Microsoft i-Spark Centre, the second of its kind in INDIA in August, 2010 in BVRIT Innovation Centre, Nizampet Road, Hyderabad. Microsoft i-Spark Center gives an opportunity to the students to get familiar with Microsoft technologies and helps the students find an opportunity in Microsoft & companies working with Microsoft-related technologies.  A couple of projects like “Conservation of water in Irrigation”, “Video Compression Technology”  were the projects which were initiated in Microsoft i-Spark Centre and took off to the next levels later on.  Instrumental in identifying and incubating "Notion Ink" "Adam" tablet PC. "Notion Ink”,  is founded by IIT-Kharagpur alumnus Mr.Rohan Shravan. It was the first to adopt the Google Android Mobile Operating System to a tablet PC in July 2009. Notion Ink's Adam was adjudged the second best product in the "Consumer Electronics Show (CES)-2010”, Las Vegas, the USA in January 2010. Notion Ink”s Adam was widely covered in the Press in 2009 & 2010. Presently, “Notion Ink – www.notionink.com ” operates out of Bangalore and is doing good.           1. Conservation of water in Irrigation project:

 Participation in “India Innovation Initiative( i3 Initiative - http://www.innovationgrid.org/i3/)” of DST (Dept of Science & Technology, Govt. of India). I was chiefly instrumental in making a team of BVRIT students participate in the finals of “India Innovation Initiative ( i)” competition in the year 2010 after winning the South Indian finals. The project made a prototype which was able to help farmers operate Pumps and motors remotely using their mobile phones. Also, it was estimated to conserve water to the extent of 30% giving the optimum amount of water to a plant by measuring the soil moisture content by avoiding wastage. I was instrumental in having “Dhama Innovations” getting hosted in “BVRIT Innovation Centre” from August 2010 – August 2012. Kranthi’s patented “ClimaCon” technology was developed by him even before we hosted him. After August 2012, Kranthi moved into his own premises and he is into commercial production.
